FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)
What is a Coach?
A coach is a "personal success trainer,"
a dedicated professional who specializes in helping people
excel. As coaches, we serve as your sounding board, mentor,
challenger and cheering section. Because we're invested
in your success, we ask questions, offer perspective, facilitate
critical new insights, brainstorm possibilities, distill
and synthesize information, and help you recognize and create
opportunities. We combine our energy with yours to empower
you to take action toward achieving your dearest goals.
Im already quite satisfied with my
life. Would I benefit from coaching?
Most of us have one or more areas in our
lives that we feel could use a little work. If you are not
totally fulfilled or enlightened, you could probably benefit
from coaching because coaching helps you to prevent problems,
enhance performance, achieve personal growth and know fulfillment.
Most of our clients have already experienced success in
some area of their lives and simply want their next level
of success to be more fulfilling and their next path to
be easier and more efficient.
How is coaching distinct from counseling
or therapy?
The type of clients, purpose, focus, processes
and results are distinctly different between coaching and
therapy. Below is a table that demonstrates the differences.
|
Coaches
|
Therapists
|
| Work with people whose challenges
are not diagnosable for the purpose of maximizing effectiveness
and fulfillment |
Work with people who have a diagnosable
condition in order to establish a baseline of health |
| Focus on the whole of a persons
life in the present and future |
Focus on ones past, unresolved
issues and a particular area of functioning |
| Use techniques of discussion, direct
advice, challenge and action |
Use discussion and indirect advice |
Because the techniques and purposes are
different between those two modalities, the results can
also be dramatically different. Through coaching, one can
increase understanding and awareness, change behavior and
develop fulfillment in all areas of life while results of
therapy include increased understanding and awareness and
improvement in a particular area of life.
Some people need coaching, some need a
therapist, and some could benefit from both. For this reason,
we occasionally refer clients to therapists or agree to
work in tandem with a licensed counselor.
What does the effectiveness of the coaching
process depend upon?
- The rapport between us, and the ability
of each to be authentic in the relationship
- The level of commitment of both parties
to the process
- Your openness and adherence to the
designed action plans
- Your desire, motivation and willingness
to grow.
The most successful clients are committed
to their own progress and to the well-being of others and
are able and willing to commit to the time it takes to achieve
long-term growth. To ensure optimal effectiveness of the
coaching process, a variety of evaluations and progress
reports are utilized regularly, which help steer the direction
and style of coaching.
How long does coaching take?
Because coaching is customized for each
individual and organization, the duration of the coaching
relationship will vary from a few months to several years,
depending upon the distance between the current reality
and the intended outcomes. The minimum commitment is three
months, although most clients work much longer with their
coaches.
How much does coaching cost?
Fees are computed as a monthly retainer
and are payable monthly by check or credit card.
For personal coaching, the investment ranges
from $250-$450 per month.
Annual retainers range from $2500-$4500, which is a savings
of $500-$900.
For corporate and executive coaching, the
investment ranges from $500-$1500 per month.
Annual retainers range from $5000-$15,000, which is a savings
of $1000-$3000.
Executive coaching is more expensive because
in this modality, the coach incurs more responsibility and
does more research regarding current leadership and business
trends.
Fees for workshops, keynotes, team, group,
and on-site shadow coaching vary depending on the number
of persons and time involved.
